Whoah, it's 2015
Hi fawns,
While you’ve been toiling away on your New Year’s resolutions, or making excuses for why you’ve already given up, the Deers have been busy scheming up our plans to make 2015 a real treat. Here are a few highlights that are making us jump out of bed each morning (except mornings after our shows...those require sleep-ins and Gatorade).
Our first baby
To set the record straight, no Adam and Laura are not an “actual couple” and nope Laura is not pregnant. The baby we’re referring to is our first record! The Deers have been working hard on our writing game, breaking pencils and beads of sweat from our brows to deliver you our very first LP, The War. THANK YOU to everyone who has supported us via our Pledge campaign so far - last week you helped us reach our goal! There are still post production and record pressing costs to cover, and lucky for you (and us), there is still time to Pledge in case you’ve been dragging your heels or can’t decide on what awesome stuff you want to order www.pledgemusic.com/projects/rdr-the-war.
Calgary crew - mark your calendars
Earlier this month we kicked off the year with our 1-year anniversary show at Below Deck. Thanks to everyone who came out to celebrate with us and to For This Fire and The Sweets for putting on killer sets! This was followed by a super fun night at Nite Owl with Alexa Borden and her lovely band, and Calgary newcomers Island in the Sky - we can’t wait to play with these rad dudes again! 2015 bookings are well underway and we are pumped to be playing great venues with some sweet local talent. More shows are being confirmed each week so keep up to date via www.rundeerrunband.com and our social media outlets (see bottom of this note). Here are our next couple, come have a good time with us:
Saturday, Feb 7: Wine-Ohs with Alexa Borden and Walden
Friday, Mar 6: Nite Owl with The Ashley Hundred and Landfork
Leaving our natural habitat
That’s right, The Deers are going on tour! Over 3 weekends in March and April we will be touring around Alberta and beyond with a fantastic band from Edmonton, We Were Friends. We will keep you updated on our tour stops and hopefully will be in your city. Don’t live in the west or want to travel someplace fun to see us play? Fear not! We plan to trek to Eastern Canada a couple of times this year. We will keep you posted so that you can plan your summer with us.
A wise woman once said more is more and less is a bore. We agree and have a few more tricks up our sleeves this year including music videos, cool collaborations with other artists and (fingers crossed) playing our first music festival. Anything you want to see The Deers do this year? Send us your ideas! But keep it clean and respectable, people.
Get your daily dose of Deer
As with everything, the best way to stay on top of our happenings is social media. If you haven’t already, like us, follow us, add us to your RSS feed. If all else fails send us a carrier pigeon and we’ll return it with our updates.
Thank you for reading and for your support, muchachos - we will see you soon!
