Postcards From The Moon
In reflecting on what were the best days of the summer, the one-year anniversary of the YYC flood was surprisingly one of them. Bike rides, YYC Neighborhood Day at a beloved friend's home in Mission and discovering a new favourite band.
I first heard The Ashley Hundred while lining up at a park for free burgers. I was instantly blown away by their beautiful harmonies, catchy hooks and bouncy bass lines. After picking up an EP and a nice chat with one of the members, Carson, I immediately told Adam about them. The next day their EP, Postcards From the Moon, slid into my car's CD player and has yet to leave.
Seeing The Ashley Hundred's summer tour kick-off show alongside the talented Windigo at Broken City this past month solidified just how special this group is. Not only are they the nicest bunch of humans you will meet, the on-stage connection and energy between the five members is amazing to watch. The hooks are addicting, the builds are perfect and the honestly-delivered lyrics are wise beyond their years. And it’s all tied together by perfectly-blended harmonies and uniquely rhythmical drumming. Both Adam and I are so happy to have connected with this band and are very excited for their bright future.
In just two short weeks we'll excitedly share the Republik stage with The Ashley Hundred as well as The Fox Who Slept The Day Away (think a down-tempo Caribou...we're so excited music like this exists in Calgary!). Come see all of us.
Until then,
The Deers
