2015 Wrap Up
As we wrap up our sophomore year as a band, we wanted to send a quick note to thank you for your heartfelt support. Your encouragement and kindness have carried us along, and we’ve had such a blast creating and sharing our music with you. Below are a few updates as well as details of our final show of 2015.
Mostly we rock and roll. But sometimes we spreadsheet.
What a whirlwind year for us Deers. Our last few band meetings have included reviewing 2015’s successes and lessons learned to make 2016 even better. Upon reconciling our master spreadsheet we came across some RDR fun facts we thought you might enjoy:
-In 2015 we played 44 shows across 10 different cities, with venues ranging from outdoor stages to community centres, pubs, cafes and clubs
-Our most expensive road trip was the one where Adam’s car died in the middle of BC :|
-We’ve reached listeners across the globe including Scotland, Ireland, Belgium and South Africa
-Our record The War received radio play from CJSW, CKUA and daily rotation on CBC Radio 3 (among others)
-We were lucky enough to share our music and ideas on the Music 4 Life and Petrocast podcasts, live on CJSW radio and NUTV
And those are just some of the hard stats. They don’t speak to the number of amazing people we met, brilliant music community members we collaborated with and bands we shared stages with. Keeping the thank-you list on our record to a minimum was challenging so we won’t attempt it here, but know that we are happy to have you in our world as a friend and supporter - in fact we couldn't have had such a successful year without you.
Final 2015 show
We’re capping off our incredible year with a big party at one of our most favourite places: The Palomino! This Saturday November 21 we’ll be joined by both Alexa Borden and SAVK (!!!). When we’re not busy drooling over these amazing bands we’ll be on stage sharing our new tunes and favourite songs from the year, plus a special cover of one of our favourite iconic punk groups. Come celebrate with us!
How to look cool
1. Start a band
2. Secure gig at iconic local venue
3. Invite the ridiculously talented photographer Allison Seto to capture you on stage
4. Be yourself; somehow Allison will capture the most perfectly flattering moments of you in the zone
If you haven’t seen Allison’s shots of us, check out the photo section of our website. Her most recent series is from our album release party at the Palomino, and we’ll be lucky enough to have her with us again on November 21.
We realize it’s early, but before the December craze really sets in we want to wish you and yours a joyous holiday season and a New Year that’s filled with excitement and time spent on your passion. See you on Saturday or in early 2016!
With love,
The Deers
