Happy 2016!

Happy New Year from the Deers!

What a year 2015 was for us. We released a record, toured around Western Canada and played a ton of local Calgary shows. We met many amazing people, a big highlight for both of us. As we forge ahead into the new year, connection will be our theme. Making music that we feel personally connected to and proud of, and continuing to nourish the great relationships that we’ve made so far. 

Calgary will get some well-deserved time in the Canadian music spotlight this year, with the opening of the National Music Centre and hosting the Juno Awards. Really, these things are cherries on top of the strong foundation of our music community, and it’s exciting that we’ll get to show off our diverse music scene to the country. Each year we get better and stronger and there is still much work to do in order to maintain our momentum. 

Please join us in supporting Calgary’s music scene this year. There are many ways in which you can do that. Purchasing local music and attending shows are obvious ones, and things like frequenting businesses that support local music, volunteering at festivals or events and spreading the word about all of the above help too. Feel free to hit us up while you’re doing these things...chances are good that we’ll join you.
